Many former drug users credit God for their second chances of living the life of sobriety, while others praise their friends and family for setting them on the straight and narrow. With this support, along with an incredible amount of strength and perseverance, an addiction to heroin can be broken. Remember that addiction is a very powerful thing, and a long-term addiction to heroin can significantly alter how your brain functions.

Sometimes, even if you think you have the willpower  and mental stability to break the habit, your body will be fighting against you. The only thing that you can do for heroin addiction recovery is to keep pushing forward, remembering that the hardest part comes first, and then it gets a little easier. Even if it seems impossible, you can change your thoughts and behaviors and live drug-free.

Maybe you don’t think you need help, but everyone is telling you do. Perhaps you think you have your heroin use under control, that you are not letting it affect your life. Sure, you need to take a lot in order to feel the effects, and maybe you’ve lost a few friendships due to their disapproval of your lifestyle, but you don’t feel any different, right? You’ve quit playing your favorite sport because your drug use affected your game, and you are always looking forward to your next high.
