The first time I ever tried heroin I snorted heroin it and it made me puke. I did not mess with it again for a few years. Then a friend of mine at the time introduced me to shooting heroin. Well it turned out that it made me sick this way too. I was snorting a lot of diaudid at this time too. I may have ran out or something because I was injecting heroin again. To make a long story short that was over 30 years ago. During that time I spent time in the joint, got divorced, and blew tons of loot on it. It did not matter how I got it or who got stepped on in the process. Anyway that was then now I want to talk about how you can stop injecting heroin and find a new way to live. I know it is going to be difficult to stop shooting heroin but it can be done and here’s how it can be done.
How to stop injecting heroin
Now if you are for sure that you want to get clean and stop injecting heroin then I would first make up my mind how. One can either stop using heroin at home with or without drugs or one can go to rehab and be medically detoxed from heroin. I would suggest the latter if you can afford it. Ok if you do decide to go to rehab then look for the closest heroin treatment facility to you. Then give them a call and ask when the soonest day is that you can get into treatment. Do not delay I am going to use the famous line that you never see the shot coming that kills you, ya I know, they were talking about guns but the same principal applies here.
Once there you will be taken good care of by a medical staff. They will administer drugs to help ease the pain of heroin withdrawal. Now the actual heroin detox does not take long, usually 3 to 5 days maybe a tad longer for addicts who have been using a lot for a long period. Now I have to recommend residential treatment for those who want to remain clean, some of us will not choose to go thinking they can do it with just a heroin detox, we think now that the drugs are gone we no longer need help but heed the word they will relapse!
