How to overcome loritab addiction

by admin on November 20, 2009

Many people take this drug for the relief of pain; however this can lead to problems like lortab addiction. What generally happens to some people is they start out taking this drug innocently enough and then it seems to no longer do what it was intended to do which is help kill the pain. The person will then start to increase their dosage. Then what happens 1s they build up a tolerance to it. At this point they start to get out of control by taking more and more to get the desired effect. They are actually beginning to become addicted to lortab if they are not already. I am under the opinion that hydrocodone is over prescribed all one has to do is basically sprain an ankle and go to the Dr and they will be given drugs such as loritab.

If you fall into this category here is how to stop using and overcome loritab addiction before you end up having to go to hydrocodone treatment to be detoxed. What I would suggest is that you start to taper yourself off of loritab. This is relatively simple all one has to do is take a little less of the drug each day; for example, if you are taking 15  pills a day cut back 1 pill each day until you are completely done.

This is one type of hydrocodone treatment and should prevent any loritab withdrawal. This will work for some people but it is difficult to do having the pills around all the time. I think the best way to quit using  is to not have them around.

Now if you do not succeed at this then I would suggest that you look into going to hydrocodone treatment. There one can be detoxed medically without the fear of withdrawal. This will take approximately 5 days. When done you will need to further your recovery in residential treatment.

In residential you will go to lectures, group, attend 12 step meetings like NA, and go to individual addiction therapy.  I can not tell you how important this is because we need to learn all we can if we want learn how to overcome drug addiction before you leave rehab. Your chances of staying clean without residential rehab are non existent you will relapse.

Good luck
