Opiate rehab
By the time you decide to stop using opiates, chances are your personal life and any relationships you had are gone, job performance is terrible, or you were fired. You are paranoid and depressed and you have hit rock bottom. The only direction to go from here is up. Find a opiate rehab center, or have your physician recommend one because you will need to be monitored so the bad effects of opiate withdrawal can be made tolerable. Rehab can be any where from 7 to 14 days and then you will need to join a support group for after care to help you not go back to the old life. A great support group is the 12 step program of Narcotics Anonymous.
How to Handle Opiate Withdrawal

Opiate withdrawal is dangerous, but with proper support you will soon be on the way to being healthy once again and you can begin your new drug free life. You will have to work hard to stay clean but a support group and once your friends and family see you are really making the effort to remain healthy, they can be part of your support system too. It isn’t going to happen over night, all things worth having take time and lots of work on your part and your friends will probably watch you to make sure you don’t slip again or if they were only friends because of the drug use, you will find new friends who will be supportive to you.
It has been my experience that once we get clean we can basically do the things we only dreamed of. You may want to go back to school to further your education or you may want to make a career change. All of this is possible once we get some clean time under our belt. Don’t delay time is of the essence we do not want to become another statistic of drug overdose.
Good luck- and if you have any recovery related comments or ideas please feel free to share that’s what its all about one addict helping another.
