For those of you who may want to know how to detox from drugs and alcohol here are a few common guidelines and advice for you.

Now I have to tell those who may be trying to stop drinking alcohol or benzodiazepines like valium or xanax then I would suggest that you may want to seek medical attention.  Withdrawal from Benzodiazapines or alcohol aka benzo’s can be dangerous. One can actually die if they suddenly stop using these drugs.

I think the best choice for most people would be some sort of drug rehab. This will limit the people who do not have the money to take this route. Now if you can get in this will be by far the best way to go because they will be able to help treat your opiate withdrawal symptoms and make you as comfortable as possible. In my opinion this is great because one will have support from their peers and groups as well as lectures and individual drug therapy.

What happens is most people will become to uncomfortable before they are half way through and give up and relapse. Another drawback is that you will more than likely be in your own home so it is easy for other using addicts to come by. If you think just because you want to quit using opiates that they are going to suddenly jump on the bandwagon think again you were more than likely helping them continue their drug use.
